I really was a little irritated that I didn’t have my favorite camera with me. But, I don’t like hauling it around when it is so cold and I don’t even know if I am going to use it. Been having trouble with my lenses in the cold – they don’t want to autofocus, which wouldn’t be a problem if I would actually remember to manually focus… 
I know what you mean, I only bring my camera if I know I’m going to use it. But my iPhone is always with me. If I see something I think I need the “real” camera for, I make a few shots with the phone, then if I come up with a decent composition, I’ll come back with the 7D. Even when I’m out with my dslr I try to make a few photos with the phone, cause it’s fun.
