Weekly Photo Challenge
Hey! I’m still here. I have been busy with class lately, so posting (and unfortunately, taking photos) has not been a priority for me. I took this photo a couple years ago at The Hoover Dam. I loved the shadow, but it wasn’t until I got home that I saw the beauty of all the other lines and patterns – the grid pattern of the dam’s construction and the contrasting water/rust? stains, combined with the deco-style pillars, and cylindrical buildings.
I couldn’t resist digging up these photos from the protests in Madison, WI in 2011. I won’t add my personal comments, but I wasn’t only there to take photos 😉
What is beyond “as far as they eye can see”? Hwy 16, Sparta, WI. Info from roadsideamerica.com:
Sparta, Wisconsin: 30-Foot-Tall Eyeball
Artist’s big sculpture based on his own veiny orb. The eye spent time in Chicago’s Pritzker Park until 2010, now outside F.A.S.T. in Sparta until it finds a welcoming socket.
I took this wider shot so you could get a feel for the size of this sculpture.
Sparta has it’s eye on you 🙂
**UPDATE** I am quite sad that I no longer get to gaze into the eye of Sparta. The sculpture has moved to Dallas as of August, 2013.
This is also the Da Vinci exhibit – they were taken inside a replica design of Da Vinci’s ‘tank’. Complete with life-sized cannons and wheels that had to be hand cranked in order to move the tank.
I am a little behind in posting this photo, and unfortunately, I did not have my favorite camera with me – just my LG Viper smartphone. But I enjoyed the exhibit and liked the photos enough to post them, anyway 🙂

Hello! Took a short break while dealing with some computer issues (and learning how to use my new computer). Glad to be back. I hope you enjoy my newest contribution to the weekly photo challenges!
