Holiday traditions

Posted on Updated on

In the past, I have posted photos from the Christmas tree farm we visit, but for some reason this year was a bit more fun. Perhaps because I am moving on to a new job and life seems so full of possibilities I could burst.

Have you ever taken a step back from yourself to assess your life and suddenly realized how lucky you are? That happened to me this week.

The following photos aren’t particularly special works of art, but the strong sense of peace and love coming from my soul when I made them was very special.

Fur and Paws

Whenever any furry critter is around, I will be the first person to focus in and attempt to cuddle, kiss, and of course take photos of them. I have 5 pets myself, so I have a lot of opportunity to practice. It can be very tricky, especially when they don’t trust the big metal contraption you keep trying to shove in front of their face. But, in the end, the reward of the perfect (or almost perfect… Or flawed-but-strangely-perfect) photo is enough.

Again, these photos were taken on my phone and filters were used. Not all of them turned out the way I hoped, but I still loved each one.

Back in the saddle again

Since it’s been a while, I thought I would go all in and create several posts from photos I’ve taken in the past month. These were all captured on my phone (Samsung Note3 – highly recommend!), but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been working on my camera skills. I’ve been pretty busy with that, and plan to officially launch as a business soon.

This first batch was taken while on a road trip in the western VA/WV area. I absolutely love the mountains and can’t wait to plan my next mountain vacation!

Fifi

While I love to photograph just about anything, I really love taking photos of pets. This dog, Fifi, could be seen with his owner just about every night on the Piazza in Cagli, Italy. If you look closely, you will see my shape in his eyes as well as two of the buildings surrounding the piazza.

My cat likes to sleep under the covers sometimes…and of course I let him because he is incredibly sweet čÖé Unfortunately, all I had was my phone next to me to capture this…

Ralph doesn't appreciate being woken up by the camera.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Saturated

These were taken at one of my favorite stops in southern Minnesota.

While I love these photos they way they are, I have to admit that I am unsure of the saturation technique I used…
